New Fall Out Boy album set for November

Recently, Fall Out Boy announced they’ll release a new album on Nov. 4. The album, titled “Folie A Deux,” will be the band’s fourth major album.

Since “Infinity on High,” the band has become more politically active, as they just played at the Democratic National Convention. Certain members of the band also publicly support Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

Singer/guitarist Patrick Stump told Billboard their new album will be “a political record only insofar as anyone making music and paying attention to what’s happening will make a record tinged with politics.”

This will undoubtedly have an effect on their music and the way it sounds to the average listener.

The question is: How will the new sound be received by critics and fans? Will the fans recoil at the fact that FOB’s music is suddenly backed by serious matters, or will they only be left missing the usual pop hits?

Maybe a new album with a serious tone is exactly what FOB needs to regain the respect of past fans and push them ahead of other pop bands.

Until then, let’s just hope that FOB can hold out and come out with another album, which is bound to become overplayed on the radio.
