DeKalb Police issue citations from roadside checks

DeKalb Police arrested a NIU student and employee of Student Involvement and Leadership Development Wednesday night and charged her with criminal trespass to residence.
DeKalb Police were called to the 1300 block of W. Lincoln Highway at 7 p.m. Wednesday about a complaint that a woman would not leave a residence after repeatedly being asked to, said Lt. Gary Spangler.
Police later arrested Niquella S. Hardwick, 30, of Rochelle, and charged her with criminal trespass to residence, a Class 4 Felony.
Hardwick is being held at the DeKalb County Jail on $40,000 bond.
Hardwick was arrested earlier Wednesday by NIU Police and charged with telephone harassment, according to a DeKalb Police report.
NIU Police did not immediately return messages left by the Northern Star.
Hardwick was later released on bond, and part of her bond agreement was to not have contact with the complainant, Spangler said.
Spangler said Hardwick later went to the residence of the complainant and sat on the couch.
He said Hardwick eventually had to be physically removed from the residence after the complainant repeatedly asked her to leave.
When police arrived, Hardwick had already left the residence, according to the report. DeKalb Police notified Rochelle Police of the incident, Spangler said. Hardwick was then brought back to the DeKalb Police Department after Rochelle police located her, he said.
Student Involvement and Leadership Development and Student Affairs were unavailable for comment as of press time.
