Minutes of NINA Board of Directors Meeting

Members present ((14): Greg Rivara (President), Sharon Boehlefeld (1st VP), Pete Nenni (2nd VP), Colin O'Donnell (past president), Lois Self (interim executive secretary), Roger Ruthhart, Mike Cetera, John Etheredge, Penny Wiegert, Lonny Cain, Pam Lannom, Jim Slonoff (treasurer), Denise Renckens, Dirk Johnson, Joe Corrado, Randy Swikle.

Members absent (6): Jim Killam (communications coordinator), Rick Nagel, Josh Albrecht, Jay Dickerson, Kim Kubiak, Wally Haas.

Meeting called to order at about 6:45 p.m.

Minutes of the Sept. 7 meeting were approved.

Treasurer's report: Slonoff reported a balance of $5.94 in savings and $8,958 in checking at the end of September. More money came in from the last conference, but it hasn't been deposited. Slonoff also related some expenses incurred since June, including a $119.84 payment to the Kendall County Record for plaques, $400 to scholarship recipients and $80 to Castle Printing. Slonoff asked if the board should consider increasing Killam's stipend.

Program: Boehlefeld talked about final preparations for the Oct. 26 "Fall Conference and Swap Meet."
President's Report/New business: Rivara presented incoming board President Boehlefeld with the prestigious and highly sought-after Rhino Award which, Nagel once said is given to the board member who does the best job at "charging forward and making a mess of things."
