Minutes of NINA Board of Directors Meeting

Meeting called to order about 7:30 p.m.

Members present (10): Colin O'Donnell, Jim Slonoff, Lois Self, Lonny Cain, Roger Ruthhart, Pete Nenni, Sharon Boehlefeld, John Etheredge, Rick Nagel, Penny Weigert.

Members absent (7): Greg Rivara, Joe Corrado, Jay Dickerson, Wally Haas, Jim Killam, Pam Lannom, Randy Swikle.

Guest: Josh Albrecht

Treasurer's report - Given by Jim Slonoff - Checking account balance is $5,900. In great shape, all bills are paid.

Executive Secretary's report - Lois gave an update on the fall conference and the awards program to be held the next day at NIU. A fire at the Holmes Student Center imperiled lunch, but it will go on as scheduled. Lois will pick up coffee for the morning program because the student center will not be able to provide service in the a.m. due to the fire.

President's report - Colin O'Donnell submitted four names to fill four vacancies on the board:

• Kim Kubiak of the Woodstock Independent to replace Rich Rostron (term ending December 2008);
• Denise Renckens of the Kankakee Journal to replace Tom Martin (term ending December 2008);
• Josh Albrecht of the Valley Free Press to replace Jeannine Otto (term ending December 2007)
• Mike Cetera of the Aurora Beacon News to fill a final vacancy (term ending December 2006, extend for a three-year term to December 2009)

Motion made and seconded and approved by all members in attendance. This brings us to 21 members - a full board.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 7:45.

Next board meeting: Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at the Northern Star, NIU-DeKalb.(note: this was postponed to Dec. 8 due to a snowstorm).
